I run out of time after 15mins – these studies were intended to be just value/ shape/ shadow outlines, however sometimes I get lost in the detail and then it goes south. Put it down and move on.
The sketch taught me how much more I have to study – and the importance of keeping the colours pure – patience with allowing them to dry – so much more
Basic setup for gouache – includes three colours plus white, brushes, two coloured pencils (red and blue) for outlines, tin palette + lid, blue painters tape, collapsible water cup, plastic rod (mahl stick), paper towels/rag, and a ring bound hot pressed 140lb sketchbook.
